“The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do.” – Kobe Bryant
Inspiration can come from everywhere and anyone. As a strong advocate of doing what you want and what makes you happy I decided to share what makes me happy. How I was inspired to start a blog about it?
Thank you Philip! 🙂 A friend and also colleague from work calls every Saturday an ‘Anna Day’. To his mind I kind of celebrate this day of the week. Yes, it is a special day. You get to sleep in, have a late breakfast, go to the gym, go shopping, meet friends, have your nails done, enjoy a massage, sit in the sun, go to the beach, do a day trip, go to the movies, the zoo or a bar – you see, you can do just anything! Plan your day or don’t plan your day, just enjoy it and deliberately relish the day. You don’t have to justify yourself; decelerate, slow down and relax.
Ever since Philip pointed out how wonderfully I master decelerating every Saturday I make it a point to do whatever I feel like. And as a result I enjoy it even more. Saturdays are active days where I want to go outside and embrace life. Typically I go to the gym when I wake up and have brunch afterwards. Mostly I spend this day with my sister and friends. During brunch we make plans and take it from there.
Inspired by Anna Day I thought why not make every day Ännie Day. Of course, you can’t go about as you please when gainfully employed. Nevertheless, make every day count. There will be days where you don’t like your job, yourself or someone else, but find a job you love and where you enjoy spending your time as it is the one place where you spend most of your time. It might not always be the tasks that make you get up every morning, it can also be the people you work with. AND create your leisure time how you imagine it. Relax on the sofa, go for a drink with colleagues or friends, workout, cook, bake, play a videogame – do what you want and what makes you happy.
Living your life to the fullest is another thing I believe in, as you only have one life.
What are you waiting for?
What do you do on a Saturday? Curious on your thoughts.
Until next time!
P.S. Today is world compliment day – thank you Philip for inspiring me. 🙂
